Plant Manager

DESCRIPTION:  The Plant Manager (PM) will be a key employee of the operations team. The PM will perform functions to plan, coordinate and manage manufacturing, material control, and shipping and receiving activities to ensure customer orders and company products are processed and shipped in accordance with planned schedules, job specifications established quality standards and planned profit objectives. The PM will maintain a professional demeanor, while adhering to company policies and values with all stakeholders.

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES & DUTIES:

  • Time Management: Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other members of the distribution team as well as collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime.
    Planning: Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Production: Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards. Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping.
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
    Leadership: Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Accountability: Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
    Relationship Building: Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff.
  • Communication: Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Safety: Commit to plant safety procedures.
  • Strategic: Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
  • Employee Relations: Address employees’ issues or grievances.
  • Best Practices: Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.
    Any combination of the above criteria will also be considered.

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as a plant manager and/or 7+ years of managerial experience.
    Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge: Proven knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources), as well as safety, quality, productivity, and inventory management.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding with manufacturing, CNC equipment and technical expertise required.
  • Technology: Computer literacy, proficient in Microsoft Office Package and ERP systems.
  • Leadership: Ability to create accountability and to lead by example. Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills

Sales Cost Estimator (Melrose Park, IL) Machining background a must.

DESCRIPTION: Employee will prepare sales cost estimates for PPS’ products or services to aid management in bidding on/or determining price of product or service. The position will establish manufacturing cost by determining manufacturing processes, equipment, and material costs. The estimator will utilize blueprints and specifications, display knowledge of products to be manufactured and services to be performed to determine cost. Furthermore, the incumbent will focus on developing standard cost for Fasteners and Valve Parts used in the power generation industry and will perform cost estimates using various tools, including; MS Excel models, machining estimating software, and actual cost data.

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES & DUTIES:

  • Technical Ability: The incumbent will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of cost and price development. Also, the employee will be able to read blueprints/drawings and possess a basic understanding of metals properties Time Study or Methods development experience.
  • Relationship Building: Identify and develop strong internal relationships with staff and vendors to meet company goals.
  • Customer Service: Handle customer requests and resolve issues in a timely and mutually beneficial manner.
  • Communications: The employee will have excellent listening, verbal and written skills in order to clearly exchange ideas with all stakeholders.Responds to all inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Adaptability: Possess an ability to change current work plans in order to meet corporate aims. Incumbent will be required to work on special projects on occasion to increase the effectiveness of the Sales Department.
  • Initiative: Identify areas of opportunity and develop plans to improve Sales team operations with consideration to the needs of the client and the business.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience determining manufacturing costs by evaluating manufacturing processes, equipment, and material costs.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Technical Ability: Advanced Microsoft Office Skills: Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Detail Oriented: Possess a demonstrated history of attention to detail.

CNC Machining – 1st Shift (Bloomingdale, IL) Turning experience required.

DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the group leader & supervisor this position requires performing precision machining operations to produce high quality parts by programming, setting up, establishing processes, and producing fixtures using an Integrex or Power Master machine through a Mazatrol Matrix Controller.

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES & DUTIES:

  • Technical: Be able to produce parts, inspect product to drawing specifications, document work and make mechanical or offsetting adjustments.
  • Technical: Employ ongoing inspections, time reporting, troubleshooting, and diagnosing techniques to create high quality parts.
  • Technical: Posses expert knowledge of CIMCO to address programming issues.
  • Relationship Building: Identify and develop strong internal relationships with fellow CNC Machinists to meet department goals.
  • Communications and team work: Be able to communicate and counsel operators in their machining work.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Adaptability: Possess an ability to change current work plans in order to meet department goals. Incumbent may be required to work on special projects on occasion to increase the effectiveness of the Operations Department.
  • Initiative: Identify areas of opportunity and develop plans to improve department operations.
    Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: 3 years or more on same or similar type of machine.
  • Education: Technical Certificate.
  • Strong work ethic: Be willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines regularly
  • Any combination of the above criteria will also be considered.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: Knowledge of G-code programming and Master CAM is preferred
